Viszontlátásra Magyarország!

Bags are packed. Flat is clean. Goodbyes are said. Now all that remains is to finally get on that stupid plane.

We've been preparing to leave Hungary for so long that now the time it here, it's a relief. The day we've been looking forward to and dreading is almost here. Now it's the night before we leave Gyula to go to Budapest where we will spend the night so we can get to the airport early Sunday morning.

This last week has been refreshing and taxing at the same time. Refreshing because we finally got to start doing something about this whole leaving business and taxing because we had to start doing something about this whole leaving business. After saying "goodbye" for over a week it will be nice to say "hello!".

I think once I'm away from Hungary I will feel the force of leaving it. After two and a half years of living here and experiencing daily life I've grown accustomed to the patterns and routines. I don't even notice the differences anymore. But once I'm out of the context of Hungary those differences will become apparent and I'll miss my Hungarian life. It's what I'm used to. It's comfortable.

But comfortable is not what I'm called to. So we're off on another adventure in the familiar yet strange land of Oregon.

So I will say "Viszontlátásra Magyarország!" (Goodbye Hungary) and "Sziasztok Amerikai Egyesült Államok!" (Hello USA)
