Please note the mashed potatoes on her chin |
Audrey is a lucky baby. In her first year of life she got not one, but two First Thanksgivings. If we had bought her a onesy that said "My First Thanksgiving!" it might have actually gotten some legitimate wear. And if we keep this up, she'll understand the importance of over-indulgence and left-overs in no time.
On the second Monday in October we commemorated Canadian Thanksgiving, brussel sprouts and all, and on the fourth Thursday in November we celebrated the American holiday. We shared both dinners with the students in the house and it felt like family. Audrey had her own Thanksgiving meal, though on American Thanksgiving she had turkey, broccoli, mashed potatoes and gravy. She even got to sit at the grown-up table! Even though she was the only kid there, her presence made the festivities more complete. Children and holidays just go together and I'm glad we'll have her around for many, many more Thanksgivings. Now on to Christmas!
